2050 Metropolitan Transportation Plan Proposed Projects

These projects are for potential capacity increases, non-motorized, public transit and general maintenance.  All are strictly in the developmental stage.  This is only a draft list and inclusion in the 2050 Metropolitan Transportation Plan does not guarantee construction.

The following list of projects are proposed for the 2050 MTP.  Projects have not been prioritized for funding and are not guaranteed to receive funding.

Remote Policy Committee Meeting November 18, 2020

Following the Michigan Supreme Court decision on October 2, 2020 that invalidated COVID-19 related executive orders, the Michigan Department of Health and Human Services (MDHHS) issued an Emergency Order on October 5, 2020 under MCL 333.2253 restricting indoor gathering sizes to 20 percent of capacity. Michigan legislature Senate Bill 1108 passed the Senate on October 12,2020, the House of Representatives on October 13, 2020, and Governor Whitmer on October 16, 2020 permitting virtual public meetings. In accordance with these rulings and required parameters, public bodies subject to the Michigan Open Meetings Act are authorized to continue remote meeting participation and voting during the continuing COVID-19 global pandemic.

Reaffirmation of KATS 2045 Metropolitan Transportation Plan

The public is invited to comment on the proposed reaffirmation of the 2045 Metropolitan Transportation Plan (MTP) as part of the public comment period running from October 28, 2020 until the adjournment of the Kalamazoo Area Transportation Study’s virtual Policy Committee via Zoom teleconference scheduled for November 18, 2020 at 9:00 am.

This public meeting and comment period is your opportunity to review and comment on the KATS 2045 Metropolitan Transportation Plan, which identifies the Kalamazoo Metropolitan Area’s transportation needs, summarizes the transportation network, and provides a vision for addressing those identified needs over the next 20+ years. The 2045 MTP is set to expire on April 27, 2021 and is proposed to be reaffirmed through November 30, 2021 to ensure a valid plan is in place until a new
2050 plan is approved.

Information on how to participate in the public meeting will be published on our website at www.katsmpo.org a week prior to the scheduled meeting on November 18, 2020 and will also be included on the meeting agenda. Public comments can be submitted at any time at sstepek@katsmpo.org, or can be made at the meeting during the comment opportunity.
